CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — A Clay County father said he wants answers after his daughter and two other kids at her elementary school were accused of selling drugs and facing possible punishment all over some Vitamin C drops…

“She saw me with the cough drops out and I guess she saw me give it to one of my friends, and then like, ‘Oh, I see this good business going on around you,'” Khalin said. “She said, ‘You’re selling drugs.’ (I said) ‘No I’m not.'”

The drugs the girl allegedly had were the Halls Defense Vitamin C cough drops, which her father had put in her backpack weeks ago to take to school when the child was getting over a cold. more…

I am appalled by the stupidity and utter ignorance that some teachers show. I cannot believe that the teacher in the above article had so little to worry about that she found time to cause this ruckus about a simple cough drop. The girl was sick and getting over a cold she had with her some Halls Defence w/ Vitamin C which by the way don’t really have any active drugs in it unless you consider Citric Acid a drug at which point then I may suggest you don’t drink orange juice anymore. She gave some of her cough drops to a friend that wanted one and in exchange the friend gave her a dollar. I did some research after hearing the news last night and confirmed that the contents of the Halls Cough drop she had are remarkably similar to that of Life Savers candy.

Now I am sure if she had given a Life Saver to her friend this would have never happened. I think that teachers need to be alert to what their students are doing, but trying to make an example out of a little girl for doing something innocent is utterly repugnant. I really hope that the principal of the school has better sense than the teacher and lets the matter go.
